San Diego IBEW Takes Message of Good Deeds to Business Community

Earlier this week the San Diego IBEW took their good news to the people of San Diego. They partnered with the San Diego Daily Transcript to let the San Diego business community know how we are profiting economically and socially by the work that they and their members are doing. Here are the headlines:
  • Landmark study confirms project labor agreements benefit developers and don’t drive up costs
    • This article goes into the findings of a recent study of PLAs. The study concluded that they do not have an adverse impact to construction owners and provide benefits to workers.
  • The future depends on training: IBEW leads the way; will merit shops do their share?
    • The IBEW is "turning out" or graduating many apprentices and the non union shops are not.
  • IBEW 569, IBEW-NECA training program expand Imperial County presence.
    • IBEW/NECA is responding to the growing demand for skilled craftsmen in Imperial County by opening a new training center. Imperial County is becoming a growing source of renewable energy sources.
  • What are green-collar jobs?
    • Green collar jobs are jobs related to the emerging green building industry
  • Why Gaylord’s (National Developer) string of broken promises matter to local businesses?
    • Currently Gaylord Entertainment is proposing to build a convention center in Chula Vista, California with a lot of public subsidies. The question is whether or not Chula Vista residents should trust them.
  • A leap of faith: Sullivan Solar soars to leadership in electrical industry
    • Two years after Dan Sullivan graduated his apprenticeship program he started his own business, Sullivan Solar Power.

Construction Expo at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego

This weekend the biggest construction expo in town will be held at Qualcomm stadium.
